Obituary of Daniel Joseph Brack

Daniel Joseph Brack, age 54 of rural Oxford, died Saturday, April 8, 2006, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following an apparent heart attack. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oxford with the Reverend Edmond Dunn officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Oxford. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Church where a parish vigil service and a Knights of Columbus Rosary will conclude the visitation. Daniel Joseph Brack was born August 12, 1951, in Oxford the son of Richard and Joyce (Kapfer) Brack. He attended Clear Creek schools graduating from Clear Creek High School in 1969, and then attended Kirkwood Community College enrolled in the welding program. Dan married Dianna Brant on September 14, 1973, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oxford, where he has been a member since childhood. He has been employed by the Iowa Department of Transportation for the past thirty-five years. Daniel was also one of the charter members of the Knights of Columbus Council 12910 of Cosgrove and Oxford. His family includes his wife, Dianna; son, Tony Brack of Coralville; brother, Terry Brack and his wife, Brenda of Oxford, sisters, Kathy Brack, Michelle Brack and Marcia Dawson all of Oxford, and Sandy Newkirk and her husband, Craig of Homestead; brother-in-law, Laren Wille of Belle Plaine; Dianna’s family, mother, Joanne Greer and her husband, Reese of Iowa City, sisters-in-law, Sandy Tomas and her husband, Allen of Oxford, Annette Mossman and her husband, Steven of Winterset, brother-in-law, Larry Brant and his wife, Dawn of Tiffin; and fifteen nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Susan Wille, father-in-law, Kenneth Brant, and his grandparents, Leonard and Martha Brack and Louis and Clara Kapfer. Family and friends will always remember his love for his family, dancing with Dianna, his “cowboy”, Tony; watching old westerns, and antique Farmalls.
