Obituary of Joel Pearson

Joel T. Pearson, age 53 of 1714 10th. Street, NW, Cedar Rapids died Saturday, October 1, 2005, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City from injuries received in a single car accident earlier in the day. A gathering of family and friends will take place at 3p.m., Saturday, October 8, 2005 at FB & CO @ 4185 Whittier Road, Central City, Iowa. Good sounds, lots of sharing, and support for a life that was well lived and loved. A memorial fund has been established in Joel’s memory, with donations being made to his family at their home address or in c/o Joel’s family through the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service @ 2720 Muscatine Avenue, Iowa City, Iowa 52240. Joel Trunkey Pearson was born July 21, 1952 in Waterloo, Iowa the son of William and Maxine (Trunkey) Pearson. He was a 1970 graduate of LaPorte High School, and had attended Hawkeye Institute for a couple of years. Joel has been employed by Rockwell Collins for over thirty years. On March 22, 1997, he married Julia Lynne Colbert at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Joel’s love for music was known throughout this area, having performed in a number of local bands over the years. But the one thing that Joel was, was a good friend to so many, his family and his many friends will miss him so. His family includes his wife, Julia; sons, Jake Pearson and Justin Colbert both of Cedar Rapids; brother and his wife, John and Jean Pearson of Rockford, Iowa; nephews, Aaron Pearson and his wife, Julie, Paul Pearson and his wife, Amanda, and Alex Pearson; great-nephews, Joshua and Matthew Pearson; and his mother-in-law, Janet Holmes of Oregon. Joel was preceded in death by his parents.
