Obituary of Donald Rohde
Donald Louis Rohde, age 77 formerly of Muscatine, Iowa died Tuesday, September 20, 2005, in Plant City, Florida where he has resided for the past year. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Wolverine, Michigan where military honors will be provided in recognition of Dons service to his country during the Korean Conflict. Donald was born August 14, 1928, in Muscatine, Iowa the son of Edward and Margaret (Stangl) Rohde. Growing up in Muscatine he attended schools there. He married Roberta Irene Palmer in Muscatine. Following his service in the army he returned to Muscatine where he worked for Alcoa Steel. In the mid 1970s he and his family moved to Wolverine, Michigan. Donald left Michigan following his wifes death to live with his daughter near West Liberty, and later moved to Florida. Donald was an avid outdoors man, enjoying hunting, fishing, mushrooming, and all the wildlife. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, and a Korean War Veteran. His family includes three daughters, including Maryann Peters and her husband, Dan of West Liberty; brothers and their wives, Edward and Janice Rohde of Muscatine, and Earl and Bonnie Rohde of Muscatine; six grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Robert Rohde. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Donalds family and his services.
