Obituary of Eugene Reynolds

Eugene A. Reynolds, age 73 of Solon, died Thursday, January 6, 2005,at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 11, 2005,at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with the Reverend Renee Lunemann officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the Oakland Cemetery in Solon. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made to the American Lung Association. Eugene Arthur Reynolds was born May 3, 1931, in rural Johnson County, Iowa the son of Arthur and Helen (Zinkula) Reynolds. He married Elaine E. Vanourney on August 26, 1952, in Iowa City. For many years, Eugene worked for Wayne Feeds retiring in 1993. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge, and a member of the Solon American Legion. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping in their motor home at Sugar Bottom Campgrounds. His family includes his wife, Elaine; daughters, Bonnie Griffin and her husband, Bill of Clinton, IA, Debra Thomson of Wichita, KS, and Kathy Reynolds of Solon; sons and their wives, Tim and Gail Reynolds of Iowa City, and Chris and Shawn Reynolds of Lone Tree; twelve grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Francine Jacobs and Isabelle Eckrich both of Iowa City. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Sandra Neuzil and Eileen Early; and two brothers, Merwin and Mick Reynolds.
