Vicky Jo Moothart was born October 24, 1952, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Cheryl (Nayadley) Moothart. Her family moved to Iowa City where Vicky attended Iowa City Schools graduating from City High School with the class of 1970. She then went on to attend and graduate from Kirkwood Community College. For over ten years she lived in San Diego, California where she married Mark Melzow. Vicky returned to the Iowa City area in 1987 at which time she began a career with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as a medical secretary, and has been the course coordinator for continuing education for the hospitals for many years now. Those who knew Vicky knew she loved her work, that she enjoyed a good book, that she was an avid gardener, and she always had time for her poodle, Riley; but most of all her love of her family was paramount in her life. Her family includes her daughter, Tana Marie Melzow of North Liberty; mother, Cheryl Moothart of Iowa City; brothers, Kevin Moothart of Iowa City, and Bruce Moothart and his wife, Kelly of Kansas City, MO; sister, Paula Schilla and her husband, John of Appleton, WI; four nieces and nephews, Elijah, Madison, Harper, and Meghan; and a host of other family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul, on September 12, 1995. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Vickys family and her services.
