Obituary of Ferneta Sulek Miller

Ferneta P.Sulek Miller, age 87, formerly of Iowa City died November 25, 2004 in Scottsdale, AZ. Family services will be held at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with burial at Oakland Cemetery. Services were held on Monday, December 6, 2004 in Scottsdale, AZ. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice. She was born December 13, 1916 in Alton, Illinois. She was educated at Morningside College in Buena Vista and attended the University of Iowa for her advanced studies. Ferneta taught school in Iowa from 1932 to 1934 and from 1937 to 1941 and later in Scottsdale from 1957 to 1985. As a child of twelve years, she taught others piano lessons. Ferneta was a member of ADK Eastern Star, charter member of the Paradise Valley United Methodist Church, having one of their first services in her home in Scottsdale. Her family includes her son, James E.S. Sulek; sisters, Bernice Paulus and Ruth Newel; one brother, Herb Preul. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Emil B. Sulek and Lloyd W. Miller. She was always more than willing to help anyone in need. Ferneta will be missed by many nieces, nephews and many friends in Iowa, Minnesota and Phoenix.
