Our world has lost a wonderful man who was born April 4, 1959 in Iowa City the son of James and Anna Mary (Spratt) Gorvin. He attended Iowa City schools where he met the love of his life, Cindy Kelly. Jim and Cindy were married June 23, 1979 at St. Marys Catholic Church here in Iowa City. From this marriage their family grew, including Mandy Jorgensen and her husband, Christian of Solon; Amber, Ashley, and James Gorvin III all living at home. The light of Jims life was his two granddaughters, Carly and Hannah Jorgensen. Jims other family includes his siblings, Pam and her husband, Phillip Escher of Wellman, Sue Breno and her husband, Joe of Iowa City, Pat Grosvernor and her husband, John of Coralville, Mic Gorvin of Iowa City, Barb and her partner Maureen Irish-Gorvin of Iowa City, Paul Gorvin and his wife, Tami of Coralville, Connie Mullinnix and her husband, Roger of Iowa City, and Don Gorvin of Coralville,; mother-in-law, Dolores Kelly of Iowa City; brother-in-law, Denny Kelly of Iowa City, sister-in-law, Lori Kelly and fiancé, Rex Lawson of Harriman, TN; many friends and co-workers at Roberts Dairy and TePoel Trucking . Anyone who knew him will mourn the loss of such an honest, devoted, warm hearted, hard working, loving and caring man. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Paula; brother, Bruce; father-in-law, Jim Kelly and a brother-in-law, Brian Kelly. Jim was loved by all; he loved life, his family, work, cars and kids. All his life he was an avid car lover. His 1940 Chevy coupe and his Taz truck were his prized possessions. He loved going to car shows on Friday nights. Jim worked hard at any job he ever did, never missing workdays, even after his illness was found, he still could not stay home from work! Kids will remember Jim as the candy man always having candy for them no matter what the occasion was. Jim was the kind of man that anyone would love to know or to have in their family. He had a huge heart of gold that he opened up to everyone. He was the kind of man that didnt have to say a word, you would know by his actions what he thought. Jim would always be there for you, never quick to judge, always willing to help.
