Obituary of Leda Wendler

Leda C. Wendler age 95 of 915 20th. Avenue, Coralville died Thursday, December 4, 2003, at Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Coralville following an extended illness. Cremation services were provided by Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City. Private burial will be in the Rose Garden of Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Iowa City Visiting Nurses of Mercy Hospital. Online condolences may be sent for Leda’s family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. Leda C. Benrud Wendler was born April 1, 1908, the daughter Anton and Julia (Anderson) Benrud. Leda attended schools at Cashton and La Crosse, Wisconsin. She married Arthur Wendler on November 2, 1929. The couple moved to Iowa City in 1930, where she worked in Statistical Service at the University of Iowa for 45 years retiring 1972. Her family includes one son, Allan Wendler and his wife, Donna of Iowa City; two grandsons, Mike Wendler of Cedar Rapids, and Rod Wendler of Steamboat Springs, CO; six grandchildren, Katie, Nick, Dakota, Chayton, Payton, Landon Arthur Wendler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur in 1990; and five sisters and nine brothers.
