Obituary of Ethie Mae Cilek

Her family includes her husband, Frank; sister-in-law and her husband, Betty and Eugene Shriekel of Lisbon and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Betty Krob, and a brother, Raymond Studt. Ethie Mae was born September 30, 1929 in Solon, the daughter of Vernon A. and Edith M. (Studt) Brown. She graduated from Iowa City City High School in 1947 and from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Iowa City in 1951. On November 22, 1952, she married Frank Cilek in Cedar Rapids; the couple just recently celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary. She has worked as a registered nurse at both Mercy Hospital in Iowa City and St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, along with farming with her husband. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice in Mrs. Cilek’s memory.
