Obituary of Roger A. Irvin

Roger A. Irvin, 79, of Iowa City died Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Inurnment with military honors will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Roger Irvin memorial fund. Online condolences may be sent to Roger’s family though the web @www.gayandciha.com. Roger A. Irvin was born March 22, 1931 in Iowa City; son of Willard and Faye (June) Irvin. Roger attended high school in Iowa City and later finished his education through the U.S. Army; going on to serve in the Korean Conflict. In August of 1952, Roger married Eva (Neider) in Iowa City. The couple spent over 20 years in rural Solon where they farmed and began their family. More recently, they resided in Iowa City, where Roger retired from Moore Business forms and enjoyed time spent cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. Roger was a member of the American Legion as well as the Morse Supper Club where he and Eva spent time playing cards with friends. His family includes his wife; Eva, sons; Jim (Janice) Irvin of West Branch and Bill (Tricia) Irvin of Granger, IN., daughter; Kathy (George) Murphy of Iowa City, brothers; Jerry Irvin of Crestview, FL. and Marc Irvin of Davenport, IA., as well as several grand children and great-grandchildren. Roger was preceded in death by his parents and brother; Carroll Irvin.
