Obituary of Charles Sharp, Sr.

Charles “Chuck” Sharp Sr., 67, died Monday, February 8, 2010 at Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Coralville. A visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday with a rosary at 6:30p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1p.m., Saturday, February 13, 2010 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Ave. in Des Moines with burial following at Glendale Cemetery. Chuck was born April 1, 1942 in Tucson, AZ to Charles Edwin and Roberta Sharp. He grew up in Springfield, Missouri and came to Iowa in his later years. He graduated from Saydel High School in Des Moines and attended the University of Iowa and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies where he continued to work at the University of Iowa. Chuck is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lucille; his son, Charles Sharp Jr. of San Diego and his brother, Jim Sharp of Altoona. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service assisted in the local arrangements.
