Obituary of Paul R. Hensley
Paul R. Hensley, 91, of Iowa City, died Saturday, January 30, 2010, at the Iowa City Care and Rehabilitation Center. A Memorial and Masonic service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 28, 2010, at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. A time of visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made in Pauls name to the First United Methodist Church, Iowa City; Iowa City Hospice or the Shriners Hospital. Online condolences may be sent to Pauls family through the web @www.gayandciha.com. Paul was born October 23, 1918, the son of J. Ernest and Jessie Breckon Hensley in Central City, NE. After graduating high school in 1937, he moved to Cairo, IL. During WWII Paul served his country honorably. Upon his discharge from the Army, he was a certified welder and began work in Iowa City at the Johnson Machine shop. Paul enjoyed his Masonic work and was a member of the Clarksville Lodge, York Rite, Scottish Rite and the Shrine Temple of Davenport as well as a previous member of the Grand Lodge of Iowa. Paul especially enjoyed his time spent as a member of the Shriners Camel Wheels, performing at many parades throughout the state. Pauls family includes his sister, Mary Doty of Brooklyn, Iowa and brother, Richard, of Sun Lakes, Arizona, many nieces and nephews as well as a special friend, Joyce Busby. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and a sister. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Pauls family and his services.
