Obituary of Christine Marie Carmody

Christine Marie Carmody, 51, of Rock Island died Monday, December 28, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am (CST), December 31, 2009 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 324 N. Main St., Davenport, Iowa. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in her memory to the Christine M. Carmody Memorial Fund, 4400 12th St., Rock Island, IL 61201. Christine Marie Bulat was born January 24, 1958, in Davenport, Iowa the daughter of Dr. Thomas J. Bulat and Marilyn E. (Stutz) Bulat. She attended schools in Davenport and Bettendorf, graduating with the Class of 1976 from Bettendorf High School. For many years now she has owned and operated “Painting Faux You” in the Quad City’s area. Chris was a loving mother who enjoyed spending time with her children and traveling. She was an avid hiker, spending much time exploring her backyard trails at Black Hawk State Park. Every summer she vacationed near Michigan’s incomparable Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore. Her cooking and gardening abilities were extraordinary and admired by her family and friends. Her family includes her three children, Stephen Eginoire of Durango, CO, Shannon Carmody of Lanesboro, MN, and Tara Carmody of Kurgan, Russia; father and his wife, Dr. Thomas and Pamela Bulat of Bettendorf; sisters, Kathy Brown (Jamie) of Iowa City, Anne Schaefer (George) of Kalona; brothers, Thomas Bulat Jr. (Suzanne) of East Rutherford, NJ, Carl Bulat (Denise) of Riverdale, IA, and John Bulat (Shelly) of Victoria, MN; nine nieces and nephews; and her feline friend, Boo. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn Bulat. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is assisting Chris’s family at this time.
