Obituary of Charlotte L. Darrow

Charlotte L. Darrow, 72 of Iowa City died Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Mercy Hospice of Iowa City. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2009, at Hope United Methodist Church in Iowa City. There will be a time of visitation one hour prior to the services, and a reception following the services, all at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Charlotte’s memory to Iowa City Hospice or Hope United Methodist Church. Charlotte Luellen Mick was born December 7, 1936, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of J. Edward and Lucille (Freed) Mick. She was united in marriage to Daniel K. Darrow on December 18, 1954, in Cedar Rapids. The couple moved to Iowa City where they made their home, here she cared for their family and worked for ACT over 22 years before retiring in 1991. Her family includes her children, Douglas Darrow (Pam) of Oxford, Diane Coffin (Rev. Allen) of Iowa City, Charles ‘Chuck” Darrow (Sarah) of North Liberty, and Patrick Darrow (Penny) of Westmoreland, TN; 9 grandchildren, Justin Wade, Lael Neal (Kevin), Landon Wade (Tessa), Dylan Wade (Katie), Kayla Darrow, Karisa Darrow, Nathaniel Coffin, Kaitlyn Coffin, and Morgan Shock; 4 great-grandchildren, Natalie, Faye, Hayden, and Kyler; her brothers, Jerry Mick (Ruth) of Hiawatha, Gene Mick of Cedar Rapids, Jon Mick (Phyllis) of Shellsburg, Bob Mick (Judy) of Cedar Rapids, and David Mick (Margie) of Shellsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, and grandson. Charlotte’s family would like to thank all the staff of Mercy 5N, Iowa City Hospice, and Holden Cancer Center for all their loving care of our mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
