Obituary of Shirley M. Sieglaff
Shirley M. Fleming Sieglaff, 80 of Iowa City died Sunday, May 31, 2009, at the Solon Nursing Care Center in Solon, Iowa. Private family services will be held at a later date with burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Shirley Marie Fleming was born October 25, 1928, in Kalona, Iowa the daughter of Samuel Thomas "Tom" Fleming and Chelsea Eunice (Tadlock) Fleming. Following graduation from high school she attended the State University of Iowa. It was here where she met Charles L. Sieglaff, whom she later married on August 20, 1950, in Iowa City. The couple briefly lived in Cincinnati, OH, and Midland, Michigan before settling in Mentor, OH. Shirley returned to Iowa City nearly 25 years ago. In her youth Shirley participated in a bowling league and sang in the church choir. In adulthood she has enjoyed drawing and painting. Her family includes two daughters, Diane S. Kershaw (Edward) of Sandusky, OH; and Susan Sieglaff Reyes (David) of Brecksville, OH; step-grandson, Eddie Kershaw (Julia); granddaughter, Lindsay Scheckelhoff; and grandsons, Daniel and Christopher Reyes. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, former husband, sisters, Melva Wertz, Eunice Bright, and Merle Fleming Full; and a brother, Raymond Fleming.
