Obituary of Nicole Tiffeny Fjelstad
Nicole T. Fjelstad, 38 of Iowa City chose to end her life at her home Saturday, April 25, 2009 following a number of years struggling with depression. A prayer service to remember Nicoles life will be held at 7pm Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 pm Tuesday until the services. Following the services everyone is invited to the American Legion on Muscatine Avenue to continue to share Nicoles life. A memorial fund has been established in Nicoles memory. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Nicole Tiffeny Fjelstad was born September 2, 1970, in Iowa City the daughter of Wayne A. and Gloria M. (Nelson) Fjelstad. Following graduation from Iowa City City High School in 1989, she attended Kirkwood Community College and the Iowa State Police Academy. For a number of years she worked as a police officer for the University of Iowa Public Safety, Coralville Police Department and the Iowa City Police Department. She also worked as a domestic violence investigator. Nicole enjoyed life, she worked at staying physically fit, loved spending time with her family and friends at the Eagles Club where she belonged. She liked playing softball, volleyball and golf on occasion, but the spark in her life was her dog, Hades! Her family includes her parents, Wayne and Gloria Fjelstad of Iowa City; sisters, Jackie Heinle (Randy) of Hills, Dawn Kasper (Don) of Nichols, and Koreen Langley (Larry) of Iowa City; brother, Bryon Fjelstad of Iowa City; Nicoles special friend, Mary Jacobs; nieces and nephews, Rochelle Bonebrake (Matt), Bryson Heinle, Angela Poggenpohl (Jason), Collyn Garringer, and Shane Goss; aunts, uncles, former husband, Chris Bok; and many friends. Nicole has made peace with her world, her family wishes to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers as they try to find peace in their lives without Nicole.
