Obituary of Bud Good
Bud Good, 72 of rural West Branch, died Sunday, March 8, 2009, in his sleep at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer. A celebration of Buds life will be held at 6pm Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 pm Thursday until services at the funeral home. Private family graveside services with military honors will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his memory. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Bud was born May 30, 1936, in Union, Iowa the son of Selmer J. Good Sr. and Bessie M. (Aerrsmith) Good. During the Korean Conflict, Bud served his country in the United States Army. In 1986 he founded Buds Tire in Coralville, which he has continued to operate with the help of his family. They relocated the family business to the east side of Iowa City in December, 2004. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, loved to play Texas Holdem, go to the casinos, buy, sell, and collect old cars and trucks, play pool, travel the countryside, attend auctions, always finding something that he needed, but most of all his family and friends were his world. Family includes six children, Elaine & Tom Michel of Iowa City, Ricky and Joy Good of Solon, Julie and Richard Rider of Iowa City, Rita and John Rider of Iowa City, Randy and Jill Good of West Branch, and Michelle and Dennis Frauenholz of Iowa City; significant other, Judy Kaufman of West Branch, 18 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Langland (Chuck) of Houston, TX, Mary Hills (Larry) of Des Moines; brother, Lemuel Good of West Branch. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Darlene and Hattie Good. Bud was loved by many, and will be missed by all!
