Obituary of Douglas Gene Fields, Jr.

Douglas “Duke” Fields, 57 of Iowa City formerly of Cedar Rapids died Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iowa City. Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at The Chapel in Cedar Rapids @ 1513 1st. Avenue SE. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in his memory. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Douglas Gene Fields Jr. was born July 9, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Douglas G. Fields Sr. and Bessie L. Church Fields. Following high school he served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam war. He returned to Cedar Rapids where he had lived most of his life before moving to Iowa City in recent years. His family includes his wife, Rose (Schamberger) of Iowa City; daughter, Michelle White (Andy) of Marion; granddaughter, Kamryn White of Marion; his father, Douglas G. Fields, Sr. of Missouri; six brothers and sisters, Harry Fields of New Mexico, Randy Fields of Boston, Dorrie Armstrong of Cedar Rapids, Debbie Burg of Robbins, IA, Chris Church of Cedar Rapids, and George Fields of Nebraska.
