Obituary of Pamela Ann Kaefring

Pamela Ann Kaefring, 55 of 5 Ernest Street, Iowa City died Thursday, February 5, 2009, at her home, surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2009, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City with Vicar Brent Hartwig officiating. Burial will be at the Oxford Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Monday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. A memorial fund has been established in Pam’s memory. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Pamela Ann Kaefring was born December 29, 1953, in Camp Atterbury, IN the daughter of Thomas E. and Helen R. (Portwood) Richerson. She was united in marriage to Francis G. Kaefring on October 25, 1975, in Iowa City. Pam has lived in Iowa City most of her life, where she was dedicated to helping others, doing all that she could to care and comfort those around her. Her family includes her husband, Francis; children, Allen Richerson of Iowa City; Sharmi Kaefring-Oyarzun (Marcelo) of Hills; Jana Kaefring of Iowa City; Nina Kaefring of Iowa City; Zackry Kaefring of Denver, CO; and Shane Kaefring of Iowa City; 8 grandchildren, Payten, Tenley, Sayler, Mateo, Taliah, Estevan, Anthony, and Katelynn; mother, Helen Richerson; sisters, Rita Richerson and Dawn Stoddard (Bob); and brother, Thomas Michael Richerson (Susan) all of Iowa City. She was preceded in death by her father, and infant granddaughters. Pam was a woman of support, understanding, and love, who will be missed dearly by all.
