Obituary of Douglas G. Jones

Douglas G. Jones, 58, passed away at their Colorado ranch on Tuesday, January 13, 2009. Funeral services were held at the Air Force Academy. Local memorial services will take place at a later date. Online condolences may be sent to his family through the web at www.gayandciha.com. Doug was born March 7, 1950, in Iowa City, the son of Willa and the late Jay Jones. He was raised and educated in Iowa City. After graduating from City High School, he earned his MBA from the University of Iowa. He married Margaret Ann Paulin on May 27, 1973 and together they have two children. Daughter, Allison Coblentz, and her husband, Grady, live in Galloway, Ohio and son, Brian, and his fiancée, Barbie Peterson, both live in Denver, Colorado. Doug spent six years on active duty in the Air Force as a C-130 navigator. He continued as a Reserve Officer for fourteen years until retirement from the Air Force as a Lt. Colonel. His work for the Air Force continued as a Contracting Officer at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. In January 2002 he and his family moved to Colorado where he became Chief of Contracts at the Air Force Academy until he retired two years ago. He is a much loved son, husband, father, and friend.
