Obituary of Jeanne Freeman
Jeanne Freeman 85, of Iowa City died Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at her home due to a brief illness. A memorial service will be held 11a.m. Friday, November 28, 2008 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City with Chaplain Maurie Campbell officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorials can be made in Jeannes name to Iowa City Hospice. Jeanne was born June 5, 1923 in Montezuma, IA the daughter of John L and Ida (Reed) Johnston she Graduated from Iowa City, City High School in 1941 and attended the University of Iowa where she studied art. While in college Jeanne met her husband to be, William A. Freeman, and they where married November 20, 1943 in Norfolk, VA. Jeanne was a home maker as well as a Bookkeeper for Freeman Locksmith and Door Closer Inc. Jeanne was a member of the Eastern Star, and the White Shrine. She enjoyed sewing, working with ceramics, and crocheting. But most of all Jeanne enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. Her family includes son Bill (Millie) Freeman of Iowa City; daughter Sheree Wenman (Jordy Conger) of Iowa City; granddaughters Michell Freeman-Crow (Rick Crow), Jenifer Freeman (Rene Zuniga), Chelsea Wenman (Paul Thompson), Shannon (Andy) Freeman-Turnbull the daughter of David Freeman; grandsons Courtney (Alex) Wenman, Cody Wenman; and six great-grandchildren. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Husband Bill Sr. and son David Freeman. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation service is caring for Jeannes family and services.
