Obituary of Rosie E. Johnson

Rosie E. "Nesby" Johnson 71, of Lantern Park Care Center in Coralville died Friday, October 17, 2008 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics due to an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 27, 2008, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with burial to take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. There will be a time of visitation one hour prior to the services on Monday. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in her memory. Rosie Johnson was born October 8, 1937 in Glendora, Mississippi, the daughter of LeRoy and Mildred (Washington) Nesby. She lived Mississippi, Waterloo, IA, South Dakota, and Tennessee before moving to Coralville. Her family includes six daughters Rose Sanders (Lang), Yvonnia Johnson, and Juanita Johnson all of Coralville, Brenda Fisher of Cedar Rapids, Linda Allen of Laurel, MS, Theresa Johnson of Sioux Falls, SD; two sons Emmitt Johnson of Clinton, IA, James Johnson of Clarinda, IA 33 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Javon Lang.
