Obituary of Stella Jane Hata

Stella Jane Hata, 78 of 350 Dublin Drive, Iowa City died Monday, September 8, 2008, surrounded by her family at the home of son in Iowa City. Stella Jane Brooks Hata was born March 21, 1930, in St Louis, Missouri the daughter of Willard and Stella (Thorne) Brooks. Following graduation from high school in Mountain Grove, Missouri, she attended and graduated with an R.N. degree from Washington University School of Nursing in St. Louis. In 1953 she married Daikichi Hata, M.D and moved to Boonville, Missouri where she resided for 53 years. She moved to Iowa City nearly two years ago to be near her son and his family. Her family includes her three children, Dr. Steven Hata and his wife, Tara of Iowa City, Richard B. Hata of Madison, WI, and Dr. Jane Hata (Michael Finn) of Jacksonville, FL; two grandchildren, John and Ellen Hata; and two brothers, Parkman Brooks of Sun Valley, Idaho and William Brooks of Roanoke, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dr. Daikichi Hata. At her request, no formal services will be held.
