Obituary of Shirley Kindl Brenneman

Shirley Kindl Brenneman, 77 of 2018 Waterfront Drive, Iowa City, died Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Iowa City Health Care and Rehab Center following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2008, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 3 to 6pm Sunday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Shirley’s memory. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Shirley Ann Kindl was born October 30, 1931, in Iowa City, the daughter of Rudolph and Mary (Kost) Kindl. She was married to Elmer Brenneman in 1959, but later divorced in 1965. She had worked at a number of local bars over the years, including the Stardust and Hilltop. Before her retiring she worked at Shakey’s Pizza. Shirley enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, going mushrooming, fishing, her flower and vegetable gardens and playing euchre. She loved her family, friends and neighbors, and was willing to do anything for any of them! Her family includes her daughter and son-in-law, Shirleen and Greg Rosendahl of Waukon, IA; grandchildren, Dawn Burr and her husband, Steve of Lone Tree, and Shawn Moe and his wife, Jodi of Waukon, great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Burr, Shayna Burr, and Marshall Moe; sister, Lois “Tick” Roberts of Washington, IA; sister-in-law, Ann Kindl of Iowa City; brother-in-law, Tom Walker of Praireburg, IA, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law, Dennis Moe, 5 sisters, and 7 brothers.
