Obituary of Clarence W. Binz

Clarence W. Binz. 88 formerly of 2254 S. Riverside Drive, Iowa City died Friday, January 11, 2008, at the Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Coralville due to an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial will be at the Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Iowa. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. until services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorials may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association of Iowa City or the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He was united in marriage to Helen Kopf on October 29, 1941 in Lancaster, Missouri. For nearly twenty years Clarence worked for the University of Iowa in Food Service. He has been a longtime Iowa City resident. His family includes his children, Walter Binz of Iowa City, James Binz of Chicago, IL; and Darlene Hosier (Don) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen on October 7, 1980 and two sons, Raymond and Orville. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Clarence’s family and his services.
