Obituary of Miriam E. Leinen

Miriam E. Leinen, 91 formerly of 922 Hudson Avenue, Iowa City died Friday, December 07, 2007, at Bickford Cottage in Iowa City. There will be private family service held. Miriam Elizabeth Leinen was born November 16, 1916, in Harper, Iowa the daughter of Lloyd and Valburga (Salm) White. She graduated from St. Elizabeth High School in Harper. On October 8, 1935 she married Orville N. Leinen in Keota, Iowa. For over 20 years she worked in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, retiring in 1986. Miriam was a member of St. Thomas More Church in Iowa City. Her family includes her children, Jan Willis and husband, Ken of Eldridge, Iowa; Connie Asche and husband Clancy of Fridley, Minnesota; Cheryl “Skip” Jones and husband, Roger of Owensboro, Kentucky; Jim Leinen and wife, Pam of Anaheim, California; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Lillian Pfaff of Sigourney, Iowa; and sister-in-law, Helen White of Huntley, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son and brother, Robert White. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Miriam’s family and her services.
