Obituary of Ethel I. Schwab

Ethel Irene Schwab, 92 of rural Columbus Junction, died Wednesday, November 7, 2007, at the Washington County Hospital in Washington, Iowa. Family graveside services were held at the Mentzer Cemetery in rural Johnson County. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Ethel’s memory to the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Washington, Iowa. Schwab was born December 21, 1914, in rural Johnson County, Iowa the daughter of Robert and Nora (Jacob) Beard. On January 23, 1937 she married William Schwab in Iowa City and together they raised their three children. Ethel was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington. Her family includes her son, Paul Schwab and his wife, Dixie of Columbus City; daughters, Rose Ann Bell and her husband, George of Columbus City and Mary Lou Hunter of Columbus Junction; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Boarts of Iowa City, Dorothy Busse of Morning Sun and Mary Bechelhimer of Acardia, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.
