Obituary of Richard Calvin Fort

Richard Calvin Fort, 88 of the Iowa City area died Monday, September 17, 2007, at the Lone Tree Care Center following a lengthy illness. Family graveside services were held at the Graceland Cemetery in Webster City, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his memory to the Lone Tree Care Center. For most of his life, he worked as a construction foreman in the Webster City area. Upon retirement he worked as the maintenance supervisor at the Hamilton County Hospital for a number of years. He moved to the Iowa City area nearly 14 years ago to be close to some of his family. His family includes his children, Ron Fort of Iowa City, Jerry Fort of Dale City, VA, Mike Fort of Columbia, TN, Kathy Olson of Mesa, AZ, and Susan Johnson of Kansas City, KS; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Jessie (Ahrens) Fort; and his wife, Phyllis (Hutson) Fort.
