Obituary of Donna J. Poggenpohl

Donna J. Poggenpohl, 74 formerly of Iowa City and Coralville died Sunday, July 8, 2007, at the Colonial Manor Care Center in the Amana’s. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8pm Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in her memory. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Donna Jean Vanatta was born March 21, 1933, in Muscatine, Iowa the daughter of David L. and Nina M. (Wagner) Vanatta. She was a graduate of Muscatine High School. On March 9, 1951, she married Russell W. Poggenpohl. For nearly fifteen years she lived in Los Angeles, CA. She returned to this area where she worked as a bookkeeper for HyVee, the former Kirkwood Avenue store. Russ died July 12. 1991. Her family includes a son, Kenny Poggenpohl (Becky) of Marengo; a daughter, Jeannie James of Marshfield, MO; five grandchildren, Kristina, Daniel, Donna, Mikey, and Krystal; 8 great-grandchildren, Brittany, Wyatt, Cailin, Gracie, Hannah, Owen, Devin, and Nicholas; Donna’s sister, Judy Pollock (Tom) of Iowa City. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, David Poggenpohl; grandson, Ronald; and sister, Joyce Laughlin.
