Obituary of Evelyn P. Vanek

Evelyn “Eve” P. Vanek, 95 of Iowa City, died Saturday, July 7, 2007, at Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Coralville. A celebration of her life service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Iowa City. Burial will take place at a later date at the Sunland Memorial Park Cemetery in Sun City, AZ. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in her memory to St. Andrew Music Program. Eve was born June 9, 1912, in Chicago, Illinois. She was an opera singer, an artist, a writer, and a poet. She and her husband, Roy Vanek lived in the Chicago area for many years; moved to Muscatine, Iowa and retired to Sun City, Arizona. Roy preceded her in death in 1983. Eve moved to Iowa City to be near family in 1998. Here she was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, and Chapter KZ, PEO. Her family includes her daughter, Penny Watson and husband, Dick of Iowa City; granddaughters, Eve Adamson, Michelle Kotscher and husband, Chris; and Elisabeth Watson; four great-grandchildren, Angus and Emmett Adamson and Kinsey and Chani Kotscher.
