Obituary of Willard W. Verplank

Willard Wayne Verplank Jr. passed away peacefully on May 10, 2018 in Coralville, Iowa.  He fought a long, hard battle with cancer and finally won the fight.  He was able to be in his own home until the last week and a half.  He was then under the care of Iowa City Hospice.

Willard was a custodian at Boone County Hospital for several years; then he worked alongside his father, Willard Verplank Sr. at Midtown Apartments in Boone.  Following that he worked at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, Iowa for many more years as a custodian.

He is survived by his loving mother, Anne Verplank of Iowa City, his sister, DeeAnn Wolf and husband John, of Coralville.  He is also survived by his nephew Isaac Wolf of Coralville, niece Gretta Trammell (David) of West Liberty, niece Bethany Nelson (Luke) of Perry, Iowa, three great nieces, Nevaeh and Eden Trammell and Faith Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willard Verplank Sr., and brother, Edward Verplank.
