Condolences
Kathleen and family. My sincere condolences on the passing of your mother. She brought life and true care to City High. I always remember she knew us students by name.
Mark Hogan
City High Class of 1972
Sorry for your loss. You will be in my thoughts in these sad times.
My heart and sympathy go out to the family and loved ones, especially my friend Kathleen, whose own life of caring, generosity, and intelligence reflect well on the dear mother who raised her.
I want to express my condolences to all family concerned.
She and I had many a chat about you Micheal and your Father George. I did photos of her at the house doing her UI Hospital duties of patient care beginning their transport home.
As I had taken over the News Service/Information Photo job vacated by George with his untimely heart attack, her thoughts, and my thoughts, agreed. I was happy to have you, Micheal, as a student intern during my time with NEWS SERVICE.
I also told her that George had photographed me as a design student at the Art department at the student exhibition in 64-66.
We had a good chat and I was just thinking of her last week.
Again I am sorry for your loss and my thoughts are with you all.
I met Melda through her daughter Kathleen. For some reason, one thing that immediately comes to mind is that she liked to eat at Maid-Rite on Iowa Ave. The small world effect that brought Kathleen and I together in college was that both of us were born and bred locals and found out that Melda knew both sides of my family from her childhood and high school days. I hope your good memories help you through this very difficult time. I know that she will watch over you, Dan, and the boys, but I also know she is happy to be reunited with your dad, grandma, and Uncle Harold. Be good to yourself and stay strong. With many thoughts sent your way, Susan.
Mike & Kathy, we're so sorry to hear about your mothers passing. She & our Mom (Arlene) were more like sisters than cousin's. Your Mom stood up for our Mom when she got married. They had long conversations on the phone & when Mom's line was busy for a long time we knew she was talking to Melda. Our thoughts & prayers are with you & your family. We have very fond memories of Melda.
