Obituary of Philinise Y. Martin

Philinise Martin, affectionately known as Phil and Philly, peacefully departed this life on April 16, 2024, at the age of 45. Born on June IL, 1978, in Chicago, Illinois, she was the cherished daughter of Mary Martin and Harry Grant.

 

Philinise's journey through life was marked by her unwavering spirit and dedication to her loved ones. She graduated from Freeport High School in 1998 and found solace and purpose as a member of Calvary Tabernacle, where she was baptized. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to Highland Community College and Kirkwood College, enriching her life with wisdom and growth. Devoted to her work in housekeeping, Philinise exuded joy and radiance wherever she went. She was the heartbeat of every gathering, embodying kindness and selflessness.

 

Her love for her children, Isabelle Martin, Jeremiah (Jack) Fischer (Martin), and Jayden Welch, knew no bounds, and her adoration extended to her family and friends. Philinise's faith in God was profound and unwavering, shaping her character and guiding her actions.

 

She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

 

In addition to her children and mother, Mary Martin, she is survived by her siblings, Joshua (Samantha) Booth, Jason Booth, Jacqulyn Martin, Keith (Nicole) Kelly, and Mark Martin, as well as the love of her life, Andrew Christensen. "The Jackson's, her extended family, along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and close friends.

 

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mary Martin and Alvis Martin Sr., and her maternal great-grandmother, Hattie Walker.

 

As we mourn the loss of Philinise, let us also celebrate the profound impact she had on our lives and find comfort in the cherished memories we hold dear.

 

Funeral service will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the Nazarene Church with a time of visitation from 11 until the service.  Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
