Obituary of Janet R. Nelson

Janet R. Nelson, 43, of North Liberty, formerly of West Branch and Coralville, died Monday, August 9, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Thursday, August 12, 2010, at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with Reverend Ruthie Tippin officiating. Visitation will be from 10 -12 a.m. Thursday, prior to the service. Burial will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Online condolences may be sent to Janet’s family through the web @www.gayandciha.com. Janet R. (Augustine) Nelson was born November 4, 1966, in Iowa City; daughter of James E. Augustine Sr. and Bernice Bradford. She graduated from Iowa City West High School in 1985. On August 30, 1997, Carl and Janet were married in West Branch. Janet enjoyed time outdoors; camping, fishing and horse back riding were among her favorite activities. She was also a Girl Scout leader for many years. She cherished her family and the time spent with them; one of her greatest joys was being a mother to Brittany and Michael. Janet touched the lives of everyone around her. If you were one of the lucky people to know her, you were touched by an angel; for Janet brought out the best in everyone and always found the good in people. Janet’s family includes her husband; Carl, step-children; Brittany and Michael Nelson of North Liberty, mother; Bernice Augustine of Coralville, sisters; Sherry (Bill) Bremner of Wellman and Diane Berg of Homestead, brother; James (Shirley) Augustine of Tiffin, nephew; Michael Augustine and nieces; Kim, Anna, Elizabeth and Samantha Augustine.
