Obituary of Gwendolyn May Perdue

Her family includes her husband: John of Iowa City, three nephews: Jay Rarick of San Migael de Allende, Mexico, David and Duane Rarick of Ainsworth, Iowa, one niece: Diana Peterson of Corwith, Iowa, two sister in-laws Mona Rarick of Hills, Iowa and Gayle Rarick of Corwith, Iowa along with her nephews widow Judy Rarick of Iowa City. Her parents, two brothers Arnold, Bill, and nephew Gene Rarick on February 3, 2002 preceded her in death Gwendolyn was born on August 10, 1916 in Johnson County three miles east of Hills, Iowa the daughter of Gilbert and Wilhelmina E. Weidle Rarick. She attended rural schools near Hills and University High School in Iowa City, the University of Iowa receiving a B.S. Degree and Certificate of Nursing. Gwen worked at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic’s in the Pediatric Department, the Omaha Veteran’s Hospital and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City as a supervisor in the Psychiatric Ward. On March 6, 1954, she married John F. Perdue in Iowa City, where they have lived since. During their 48-year marriage, she enjoyed photography, canoeing, sewing, fishing and hunting with her husband.
