Obituary of Brian M. Rios

Brian Michael Rios, age 44, formerly of Iowa City died Friday, November 10, 2017, from injuries received in a motorcycle accident in Ben Wheeler, Texas where he and his family have resided.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Monday, November 20, 2017, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Coralville, followed by a time of fellowship and lunch at the church.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Sunday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, concluding with a parish vigil service.  In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established to care for his family.

Brian was born March 10, 1973 in Iowa City, Iowa. He had been a resident of Ben Wheeler for 8 years, formerly living in Oxford, Iowa. He was a jack of all trades, and loved to work in his shop. He enjoyed hunting and riding his Harley. He was a member of Sons of the Legion in North Liberty. He is remembered as a phenomenal baseball player and more recently had a passion for coaching his daughter's softball team. He never met a stranger. He loved to talk Mustangs, Harleys and sports with anyone. He was an amazing husband and father. He loved his kids to the fullest. Brian enjoyed just being on their property, taking care of their home and animals. He watched his grandchildren full-time and enjoyed every moment.

His family includes his wife, Connie Rios of Ben Wheeler; three daughters, Delaney Rios and Maya Rios, both of Blaine, Minnesota, and Taylor Rios of Ben Wheeler; two step-children, Carissa Marple of Coralville, Iowa and Ryan Marple (Cathy) of Ben Wheeler, Texas; parents, Benny & Margaret (Aubrecht) Rios of North Liberty, Iowa; two brothers, Bradley Rios (Leigha) and Jason Rios (Lauren), both of North Liberty, Iowa; five grandchildren, Aiden, Lexus, Lillian, Cylas and Jordan; parents-in-law, Larry & Iona Adrian of Iowa City, Iowa; sister-in-law, Ronda Wilson of North Liberty, Iowa;  nephews & nieces, Tanner, Carter, Elle, Derek and Danielle; and many other family and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Binnie & Henry Rios, and Robert & LaVerne Aubrecht; and aunts & uncles, Snow, Emmett, Helen, Raymond, Kathy & Gladys Rios and James Aubrecht.
