Obituary of Harry L. Lewis

Harry L. Lewis, 83, of North Liberty, passed away in the comfort of his home, Friday, November 10th, 2017. 

Memorial Services will be held 1:30 p.m., Thursday, November 16th at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City where visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. with a Masonic service beginning at 8.  In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Harry's memory to the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center Research Fund through the University of Iowa Foundation.

Harry was born June 25, 1934, in Batesville, Ark., the son of Harry and Cleo Mae Lewis. He married Carol Irene Lockhart on July 14, 1978, in Iowa City. They moved to North Liberty in 2001.

Harry was an avid fisherman, a private pilot, and he loved to cook for friends and family. He served in the Air Force and was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Iowa City. He was owner of Harry Lewis Roofing Co. in Iowa City for more than fifty years.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter Tammy Lewis of Conway, Ark.; daughter Melanie Stocks of Dallas, Texas, her children Brandon, Kyle, and Riley, and Brandon’s children, Brayan, Emma, and Daniel; step-son James Langenberg Jr., his wife Angela, of Baxter, Ia., and their children, Jessica of Houston, Texas, and Joseph of Denver, Colo.; step-daughter Sara Langenberg, her husband Mark Braun, and their son, Benjamin, all of Clive, Ia.; sister Luella Richardson and her husband Daniel of Desha, Ark.; brother Tom and his wife Patricia of Batesville, Ark.; brother Richard and his wife Judy of Batesville, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Rosella, and brother Charles.
